Default ticking sound

I have a modded C5 that I have a constant ticking sound coming fromt he speakers on when I have the FM on. The CD sounds clear as a bell. I brought it to the local sound guy and he had it aprt for four hours and could not find anything. He swapped the radio out but still had the same tick..tick...tick noise. He thought I should bring it to a shop and see if I have any plugs or plug wires bad????? I have headers and stage 1 Cam package. Any ideas........I am going crazy!!!!!!!!

Bad plug wire?? Like an open in one of them??

Put an ohmmeter across all the wires, see if one is considerably higher than the others.

Just a guess. Good luck!

I think he's theorizing that one of the plug wires has the shielding burnt off it. Just look at your plug wires were they run past the headers to see if any have been burnt or melted.

I currently have a similar issue with my Driver's side radiator fan. I suspect it has a bad bearing. When ever it comes on, I get a constant clicking on my XM radio (only). New fan was $48 at Autozone. I'm waiting for a nice weekend as you have to take the lower radiator hose loose and unattach the front of the sway bar to get at it from the bottom (according to the service manual).

Typically if the clicking is motor related, it will speed up and slow down when the engine is revved.

Good luck

i have the same issue but only on 1 preset station. all others are clear.
preset 1 is the one im having the noise in/on

if it was a plug wire wouldnt it increase in speed/sound when the motor/rpm increases???

mine is consistant. and any rpm. i ended up just not using the first preset.

Noises that vary with the speed of the engine are related to the engine.

Noises that are constant regardless of engine speed are related to non engine sources (i.e. blower motors, radiator fans, etc...)

I had ticking noise on only ONE FM station. Also some ticking type noise with radio off from hood compartment.

Changed plugs and wires............no more ticking
