This maybe a stupid question. To remove rotors you just remove the caliper brackets? The two large bolts they are 13/16 standard not sure metric size the pull off 2 locks on studs and rotors slide off correct? Thanks
Yes,
The rear rotors have the e-brake shoes mounted inside.
The bolts are torqued at 125 ft-lbs and have red threadlocker on them so they are hard to remove.. without a breaker bar.
To remove the old rotor, you may need to beat on the back of them with a 2 pound rubber mallet.
It helps if you spray the hubs with some penetrating oil the day before.
Remember to clean the hubs before you reinstall and you may have to adjust the parking brakes for the new rotors by turning the star wheel a number of clicks.
Park your car on a LEVEL surface and leave the E-Brake OFF in the car and you won't have to touch it at the wheel. Piece of cake; in fact when I did mine I was baby-sitting my 4 year old neice so I let her do it for me to keep her out of trouble! I think you will have to TRY to screw up. Good Luck!
Yeah, just don't forget to re-engage the e-brake before you take the rear off jack stands!!!!! "Level" doesn't matter when you still have the front up in the air!! Of course, that is assuming you are putting the whole car up on jack stands, in which case you would obviously lower the back end first....
Life would be so much simpler if everyone had lifts!!
