Probably just loosen it a bit It'll splash out if it's off. Make sure you keep enough fluid in there so it doesn't suck air, That's a nasty happening!

I've always just left the cap off and topped the fluid off as needed.

I also have SpeedBleeders but I had someone pushing the brake pedal last time I did it. What's the procedure for doing it solo?

I bought the bladder bag and hose that is available on the Speed Bleeder web site.
Proceedure:
1. attatch hose to Speed bleeder
2. loosen 1/4-1/2 turn
3. pump brake pedal
4. tighten Speed Bleeder
The whole idea of the Speed Bleeder is that you DON"T need someone else pumpin the pedal!!!!!!!!!!!
I did 5 full pumps for each wheel. It used almost a whole small bottle of brake fluid. Pedal feels nice and firm

I don't know anything about a manual vette, but on my 1990 BMW e30 325i, I have a 5 speed, and the clutch slave cylinder has a line from the brake fluid reservoir going to the slave cylinder. I had to make sure there was fluid in that line all the time, and no air got in - if it's the same on the C5, might want to keep that in mind. Also, I bled the slave cylinder after replacing it - and it was real easy to do, if that helps? Same procedure as the brakes (for me anyway)

I bled mine last weekend using speedbleeders and the IV bag. I checked the brake fluid resevior after bleeding each wheel and added fluid as needed removing the cap each time. It took longer to get the car in the air than it did to bleed all 4 calipers. It is very easy.
