H, Y, etc...Pipes???

What's the difference between these different types of pipes that are performance enhancers?

P.S. I've heard of three different types I believe. I just couldn't remember the other type.

"X" pipe maybe? A "Y" pipe is generally on a V type engine that has a single exhaust-both exhausts "Y" into a single pipe. The H and X are really the same idea, sonnecting both sides os a dual exhaust in a "H" or "X" configuration. This help with scavanging, one side helps get exhaust out of the other side faster.

The third is an X-pipe. A Y-pipe is where to pipes come into one, it the most restrictive of the 3. The X and H-pipes pretty much looks like the letters. two pipes either meet in the middle to form an X, or have a cross beam that looks like an H. The only differences I know of is the sound.

That's it! "X" and "H" pipes are what I've seen other members post that they've installed along with their headers and catback exhaust system.

So now, which is better and why?
