I am heading to Maxton in April to run my car in the standing mile. In addition to my own safety equipment (firesuit, etc), I need an external cutoff switch and a firesystem.
Someone pointed me to LPE for a battery relo kit that would make fabbing a cutoff easier, but I'd like to see what other racers have done as far as cutoffs.
Also, I have a line on a 4 nozzle 10lb fire supression system. Those of you with firesystems - where did you mount the pull and nozzles?
I mounted the pull switch over the ash tray. I fabbed up a plate and screwed it in. I mounted the bottle on the floor on the passangers side. It made mounting the pull very simple.
I am thinking of mounting the bottle to the floor behind the pass seat or the main hoop of the rollbar (towards the floor). My car isn't a race car, so I don't want stuff like this exposed too much
We have always put the pull cable on the passenger side of the consel. The cut off switch is always on the passenger side A piller. That way a corner worker can turn off the car. That is SCCA's rule.
