Considering the C6 ZO6 shocks fit the C5, I would assume they would but that just won't cut it, will it???

Yes they will fit, I asked the same question to Gene @ Fred Beans and he said the 06 z51 would basically be a waste of time and to go the 06 z06 shocks. Plus the z06 shocks are cheaper. (2006 Z06 shocks are 196.75 shipped and 2005/6 Z51 shocks are 224.34 shipped - call to confirm any prices - but that is what I was told).

If you search the c6 used parts you might find some z51 shocks for $100.00 or so and you can let us all know if they are worth it.

I think Im going to go with the 06 z06 shocks this summer after I hear a few more good things about them. Im interested in how much firmer they are on the interstates compared to the c5 z51 or base shocks .

Good luck.

The GM Z06 shocks will fit. But dont waste your money on GM oem shocks. I would spend a 100.00 more and get the bilsteins. Lou from LG was quoted as saying " The Z06 would benefit from Bilstein valving".

Default 2004 ZO6 or Bilstein shocks.

I have read on this forum that the 2006 ZO6 shocks are not very good if you are mainly running on the street. (way to harsh)
The 2004 ZO6 shocks and the Bilstein's cost more but you will get a better value for your $$$$ using better street shocks.
I have the 2004 ZO6 shocks and the ZO6 front and rear sway bars with standard suspension springs and My car rides and handles great.

Ronnie948 - How is the ride on the interstates with your setup? Did you have the Base or z51 before? Is it a radical change across the board or just an improvement in one or two areas over what you had before?

I have essentially the same setup. Went from non-z51 to Z06 shocks and sways. I lowered the car first on the stock bolts about an inch all around. With about 26K on the origninal shock, the results were not good. Bottomed out and just didn't drive well. Added the shocks and sways and got control of the car back. It's very plesant on the highway. More 'controlled' than before, but never what I would call harsh. I do feel a few things that I didn't when the car was new, but it's defintely a 'do over'.

sorry for the semi-hijack....
