Most people change them out because they are so hard. I switch to michelin runflats...much better. Many go with non runflats and say it handles, rides, feels much better and quiter as well.
Short answer is no. You don't have a spare. Fix a flat will more than likely ruin your sensors. Some people have opted for non EMT's or different brand names of EMT's because they are quieter. Some EMT's can be repaired and others can't. Caveat Emptor.
buy regular tires, a tire plug kit, a 12V operated air compressor and if you want a small jack and collapsing lug wrench.
Others just bring their cell phone and a AAA card...
Just about any tire is gonna be hard as it ages.. It was a tossup for me but I wound up hanging with the goodyears for convenience....... doesn't seem to bother me as much of my driving is interstate.
