Has anyone installed a 212/218 COMP cam besides one other member I heard from on the Forum. Do you like the performance from it? I'm looking for a sleeper cam.

That's a copy of a Z06 cam. I've got the 218/218, baby cam, sounds stock, runs great, better than stock gas mileage. I'd go to it or the 221/221, still stock sounding
Put alittle bump in that thing, go with a Comp 232 232 585 595 Lsa 113
Great power and great sound.
Hehe.... he said sleeper!
Go bigger than that 212/218 cam. When I was researching cams for my coupe, I found this to be interesting and true (in my case).
"Find the cam you think you want to get and go 1 size bigger". I went with a 224/228 581/588 114 LSA. Nice idle and unless you know cars, you cant tell it's not stock sitting next to it.
IF I decide to cam the vert, it will be bigger than that.
If you want sleeper but worth the effort, go with MTI Stealth I cam. (220/220@115) Very sleeper yet makes great power! That was my first cam then of course i wanted more power and i didnt care about sleeperness.

But when he pulls up to a stoplight next to a junkstang you want your car to rumble hehehehe
I went with one of the VHP/Crane grinds. It is a little larger than the one you spec'd, but they also make a grind similar to that one as well. I was after good bottom end more than a final peak number, and I also didn't want to raise my rev limiter. You really need to determine what you want from the cam, as you can go pretty much as radical as you want but as all things there are trade-off's.

How is your milage...did you have to do anything to the PCM after you installed it?
I thought of doing that first... to see if it would wake my ZO6 Ti system up. I have hi-flow cats and an X-pipe. But in Cali we can only have shortie for headers.

The gas mileage was a little worse. I averaged 21 mpg between city and hiway driving. If you do a cam, you will need to have the car retuned. I had mine tuned on a dyno by a local tuner.

I am also interested in what this cam would put down. My guess is it'll do much better than a stock LS6 cam due to its more aggressive ramp and intake duration. Also, the tighter LSA should bump up the torque at lower RPMs. For a daily driver that spends most of its time below 3K RPM, this would probably be a good cam.

6Speeders input is interesting...

This is on an LS1 with headers and a few other minor mods. Note how the small cam is down only 10 hp compared to the 222/224. That number may increase with ported heads. The problem with some of the dyno charts is they don't show the torque curve below 3000 RPM where the smaller cam would shine.

How was the idle with the 220/220-115? What about a 220/220-114?
Thanks,

I have a TR220 on a 114. The idle is very stock like, but it still has a very very small lope. Like all of the above member have told you, Do not go too small, it would just be a waste of money. I have owned cars with large cams before so at times I wish a had that big lope at idle.
