the year changes are 97-00 and 01-04, never installed shorties, but the LT's can be swapped from late to early by changing the AIR tube on the pass side and the oil tube/dipstick
none of the header manufactures i've seen have accomodated the D-port heads introduced in 01, they all use the round port; understandedly so, due to the manufacturing process
i can tell you any year will work by swapping the AIR/dipstick tubes for LT's, does the cat pipe work from late to early on shorties, never tried?
