Anyone know how to do this? I have a Coupe that has what looks like water spots behind the lens. Probably from some condensation or something.I only see it when the sun hits it just right, but it bugs the crap out of me when I see it. Is the lens a pain to remove?
My 'vert had the same thing when I first got it, used those same directions. Now about 5 months later, it looks like it's starting to appear again . It's a pretty simple "operation" to get to the lens, but it's time consuming.
BTW, if you like the look of the stainless bezels, do a search on the marker bezel mod, I did this at the same time as cleaning the lens. Looks great at night with the UV lights, turns the bezels purple...
You have to remove the center console cover to start. Down at the bottom of the screen is a "Next" icon, click it, and then it'll go on to decribe the gauge cluster removal. May have to click next a few times later too.
It took me about 3 hours to disassemble, use the Silver leafing marker on the bezels, clean and polish the lens (that's probably why the dust is returning, that and the dust storms of the SW desert) and reassemble. But, yeah, it's a PITA
This job looks much more intimidating to do than it actually is. Gather all the tools you need in advance and set aside a couple of hours at the most. Vetteessentials.com has instructions on how to install gage bezels. They are good instructions and I'd also recommend doing this mod at the same time. It makes the dash look much more expensive and is 1000% better looking.
