wheel hub / bearing ?
Does this indicate a problem on the right side or left and what kind of damage can occur from prolong wheel bearing noise?

Whoa there is an easery way. do you have to pump your brakes to get them to work??
or better still
just grab the wheel at 10 o'clock and 2o'clock with your hands.
push the wheel in and out
then alternate left and right hand, pushing in and out
any wiggle??
does it feel loose?
if so, new bearing time
and dont replace one side need to do both sides.
Timken Bearings from Autozone. Same as from a GM dealer but less then 1/2 the price. GM sells the same Timken bearing in a GM Box - kaching $$$$$$

I found the noise was louder when the bad bearing was loaded- ie, if it's louder when you're tuning right, the left bearings are shot. As coincidence had it, all four of mine were shot so it didn't matter.
The above mentioned "grab and shake the wheel" method did NOT work for me. However, once I had the bearing out it because obvious that it was in bad shape.Prolonged driving on them? Uh, that's bad, mmmmkay? If it seizes up on the highway, you're in a world of trouble.
As mentioined above, the bearings are CHEAP at Autozone- $135 each versus 5-6 hundred at the dealer. You'll need a hammer, a T55 torx bit, and a few sockets to replace the bearing. With air tools, it's really pretty easy, actually. The rears require a huge socket to get the spindle nut off.
If you drive up to Dallas, I have a professional mechanic friend who'll do it for cheap for ya. We did mine in less than four hours.
