At start up when engine is cold I hear a noise.
Sound like a lifter or rocker, once warm up a little I can’t hear it any more.
Just bought the 2000 corvette with 59000 on the engine is this normal
My 2000 doesn't do it, but there are a lot of posts about piston slap when first starting cold. Doesn't really hurt anything, just a slight tolerance thing between piston and cylinder, goes away when the piston heats and expands.
Or, could be a lifter just leaking down a bit overnight - all my old smallblocks did this after 50k miles, don't know about the lS1.
Try an oil change, use 5w-30 mobil 1 as recommended.
if the noise persists, but goes away arter waming up,
probably not to worry.
Well I got the front up and draining oil in pan and remembered that somebody said to make sure that the back is higher than the front
(NEVER DRINK AND CHANGE OIL) my driveway a little bit of a angle!
Well I jack up the rear end and the corvette start to move. Now Im draining oil at this time I see the Corvette coming towards me and drop the jack in time! Man I needed to clean some underwear. I feel like the Larry the cable guy! The sound went away. Thanks for your help

Normal......My 2000 often makes ticking noises for a few minutes after initial start up. I gave up worrying about it after reading about so many others on this forum with the same issue.
My 2000 makes the same start up noise but goes away after first few minutes. Glad to see not to much of a problem.Car just turned 60,000 miles and runs great.
