My engine has always run well, no problems. Two months ago I had my first "fuel guage" reading problem (like so many before me). Checked forum, put in TWO (2) bottles of techtron fuel inj. cleaner in the next fill-up and one bottle in the fill-up after that one. Engine ran great the whole time, no eng. light, no DIC messages, and NO REPEAT of the fuel guage problem. Two fill-ups after the using techtron and all is still good, 64K miles. I wish they sold Chevron gas around here.
I have put this in my car since I have owned it and no problems at all. I put it in about every oil change. One of my buddies was having a problem with his fuel gauge and I told him to put in a bottle of Techron and low and behold it fixed it. I also told him to not use cheap gas like he had been using. Your mechanic may have been wanting you to not use it so you would be bringing them some business in the future.
I have been told that GM uses Chevron exclusively in Corvette testing.
I have friends in the Corvette club that will drive out of their way to buy Chevron fuel.
Thanks for all your input.
I agree with the consensus, that Techron is not harmful.
I think the dealership was just trying to justify why 2 of the injectors would go bad (leak) at the same time, and thats all they could come up with.
I read a thread on Z06Vette.com about a GM engineer at the Z06 Fest two years ago who recommended using Techron. You might do a search over there and find it.
I put a bottle in every oil change, which I do every 3K miles.
i would question the mechanics findings rather the use of techron. this additive works great when used as directed. if you misuse the product and do not delute the product as directed, maybe, but it would take time and multiple applications before any problem

IMHO I would be looking at the fuel filter maintenance record before suggesting that it is a fuel additive issue. There is a lot of junk pumped into your car from the gas station storage tanks. Your first line of defense is your filter.
I am also a user of Techron on a semi-regular basis. When my fuel gage started acting up I even used a little more than usual, fixed it right away. I've had no problems whatsoever in any vehicle I've used it in. He was probably making excuses to cover up his lack of a real reason.
