Default Fan Temp settings......

This info is for an 03 m6

With a stock tstat what are the stock temp settings for both fans?

What would be improved temp settings to keep the temp in the cares "sweet" spot. Would a 180 tstat help to work with lowered fan settings? I'm thinking maily during the summer. I don't think a 160 is going to work for me as I'm in New England and drive year round when the roads are clean. Let's throw a Vinci controler in the mix too...is it needed if you can adjust the settings anyway with a TechII?

Your thoughts appreciated....

stock fan

Speed 1 is on at 226 off at 219
speed 2 is on at 235 off at 227

A 180 temp thermostat with fan settings both at 190 on and 185 off will work well...

Depending on the model year...
For later model years:01-04
The low speed cooling fans are commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F). They are turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 104°C (219°F). The high speed cooling fans are commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 113°C (235°F). They are turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 108°C (226°F). When the A/C is on and the coolant temperature reaches 85°C (185°F), the low speed cooling fans will be turned on at vehicle speeds less than 56 kPh (35 mph).

For early model years:97-00
Low speed fans come on at 219,high speed fans come on at 228,low speed with a/c on...

You can use a Vinci, and use two stats like I do...,changing a stat takes five minutes, no coolant drain, just a quick switch.. I do this twice a year without issue... I use the Vinci with the 160, and turn if off with the stocker.. real simple no problems. Turning the Vinci off automatically returns the stock settings.

Ok...what's the deal with having to run 220 to evaporate moisture from the crank oil?
Thanks

Who told you that?????
moisture evaporates at any temp above the dew point. the amount of time it takes varies by the temp difference.
if 220 was the evaporation temp, we would be driving in puddles forever.
Seek answer to questions from responsible people.

Though it is a minor point, actually both fans are used in low and high speed, they just run at different speeds in low and high.

Yes both fans have high and low speeds, I could see where my post may look like there is a low speed fan and a High speed fan.... it isn't a minor point, thanks, I do not like giving information that is not perfectly clear... Both fans do have high and low speeds.
I know you were talking to chriswtx, but my post had a few flaws in it also. A typo but non the less not perfectly clear.

Be careful!

A 180 degree thermostat is not fully open and stabil until 193 to 195 degrees.

With a 180 degree thermostat it would be preferable to set the fans to come on at 203 and turn off at 197.
