Default Ceramic Header Coating

Fact or fiction, does the ceramic coating on headers actually reduce interior heat or is it just to keep the shiny polished look and is it worth the added cost?

Default header coating

Ceramic coating in side and out does reduce the outside operating temp. It also keeps steel from rusting and ss from the patena it gets. The ceramic nickel coating keeps it finish and doesn't easily discolor. I don't know of any downside to coating, other then not being able to weld on it without removing it.

Hey, George

I got the silver ceramic coating on my LG headers, the ceramic coating is supposed to reduce the underhood temp a little. Ceramic coating won't discolor, and you can buff it to a chroma shine. However you really can't see the headers in a vette so visual won't really matter. One other thing, its good to keep heat in the headers helps the gases to flow out better.

Thanks Dustin, good point. Where have you been? Haven't see you in ages.

Still working on the beast, almost done with it. Still need to get it tuned and alignment done. Been working a lot and kind of put it to the side for awhile but I am back working on it now. Hope to see you guys soon. Tell everyone up there I said Hi.

My friend had some ceramic SLP headers installed on his SS. You could literally set your hands on the header when the car was running thats how cool it was.
