NASA outsourced the patent a while back.
I checked into it.
Question is whether they will be able to shape it and at what cost.
It is seriously expensive.
My guess it will find it way into military applications far earlier than any consumer applications.
EG. M1 Battle Tank: Turbine motor with an automatic transmission for over twenty years.

You can find "carbon fiber cloth" on E-bay sometimes at decent prices. It seems that most of the shops are out of stock or need to phone in for availability; even hybrid carbon/kevlar is running out.
