Default My fob stopped working (not programming problem)

So I get in the vette today and drive it to work only to find out that I couldn't use my fob. had to use the key to open the door. I was running late and did not have time to get my other fob from inside the house. After work I stopped by radio shack and bought 2 new batteries for the fob's and tried to reprogram them at home. The vette still could not see them- I was not able to reprogram them. What went wrong with my car? Could it be a fuse or a computer? i have an extended warranty but if it could be something that I could fix in my driveway, I would rather not bring it to a dealer. Thanks in advance for your insight.

I've been having the same problem with my Y2K. I also have problems with the TPS reading on the DIC. How about you? Are your tire sensors working?? The dealer replaced both the FOB and the module receiver and it worked for about a month.

I called the mechanic at the dealer and he told me that the receiver is likely bad once again. So I'm trying to find time to take it in for repair.

It's kind of embarassing to take out a date and not be able to open the door for her since there is no key cylinder on the pass door.

Thanks for the replies! Steve, I think that at least one of my remotes would work. I never take my second one out of the house. That is why I think there is a problem with the car. The beach is in Westport- just North (East) of Compo. There is a really nice run down here that touches small beaches along the coast. Anytime you want to cruise- give a shout.

RFA (Remote Function Actuator) Module is most likely the cause.. check for codes through the DIC... I would check power and ground to the module.. but I have seen them go bad before... I cant remmber the cost maybe around 100-150?? it's a been a while since I priced one.. It basicaly is behind the drivers seat up in the side panel... it's a small box with an antenna running through it.. not hard to replace at all...
