Mellow,

I've been having some issues with my AIR system. I'm on my second pump and I keep burning up the Bank 2 check valve.

I can tell you that removing the fuse & relay will set the codes as well as the faulty valves so I'm sure removing the pump completely would too. I don't have and exact weight on the pump assembly but I'd guess between 10 & 15lbs.

I'm contemplating tossing the entire system and having it coded out during my next round of "programming" but am a bit paranoid of the EPA police....

Agree. Looks like that dead weight is coming out. Gonna reprogram soon anyhow. Anyone know which Air Pump codes I should have deleted??

Less nose weight and more weight on the rear tires is nice. The new electric pump should be cool too.

Codes??

Mellow,

Here are a few of the codes that should be removed:

P0410 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System
P0412 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Control Circuit
P1415 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 1
P1416 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 2

I'm not sure what others there may be, but, pending on who is doing your programming they should know the rest...

Good Luck...

BTW: I know its a sore subject but how did you make out with the timing chain fiasco...

Thanks! Building new 6.4L in Cali. My heads should be off any day. I have little to no compression in the 2 cyl's we checked. Engine won't run. Replacing all valves with new ones to be safe. Haven't seen how many are bent yet. Going to replace them all and lap them all in.

Will inspect Pistons/Ringlands/Seats/Pushrods.
May have her running this weekend?

Mellow,

Sorry to hear about you having zero compression. It sounds like you got similar damages as I when braking the chain. I have not lifted the heads yet so I do not the status on the valves/pistons. Please let us know your findings. Did you go with the Cloyes IRL setup or did you find something even better ?

Mike,
the Air Pump only runs when the engine is started. After that the pump turns off and is no longer needed till the engine starts again. It's just a Bull $ h i t exhaust gas diluter. So it passes emmisions. :bs

Ya, Cloyes/Jwis/IRL. Jwis=IRL.

16 bent valves, 4 bent pushrods.
