Default Help ABS bleeding?

Ok I know I have air on the up side of the ABS. So when i go to the manual it say hook the scan tool up and do a auto bleed of the abs system. Then is say this will let the pumps run while bleeding the air out of the system. It is throughing codes c1232, c1233, c1248? Witch all lead to the abs system i think. I look all of them up in the manual but i know that there is air in the system. So is the only way to do this is to take it to a dealer to have the system bleeded? Hope not I hate taking the car to the dealer even if there is a good one. So if some of you tech guy could help me out I would be great or if you just support what i theink.

Thanks in advance John.

Wow - I'd be real interested in this... I think I've had air in there for a while but not seen anything about hooking up the scan tool...

there a few on the forum w/ a TechII(this is the scan tool the book refers to); take a look at the codes, those are for the L and RF wheel speed circuit

flip the lock on the ebcm/abs module and R&R the connector, ck for corrosion

also the wire between the wheel bearing/sensor and front xmember are prone to fail, they were updated in 00/01

That is correct. If you get air into the ABS unit, then you need to do the automated bleed procedure, which requires a scan tool (Tech II) to activate and step through the procedure. Not sure if any other tools do it.

During the procedure you will need to pump the pedal about 1000 times (it seems like it anyways) while it cycles the solenoids and pumps and makes all sorts of weird noises. It also takes about 1-2 quarts of brake fluid. It works best with two people, one to pump the other to crack the bleeders.

We have done this many times.

Well want to say thanks too connecticut, I found the four wires that where causing the problem with the codes. c1232, c1233, and 21248 they had gotten into the header and well you guss, it was not good. It is fixed now! Next thanks to ATI your right it dose take the tech II but it will also work with hp tuner! I found it and was able to get it to do the auto bleed thing!
Thanks to everyone that posted in helping me out. Some time it just take alittle wake up to find something that you are looking right at. So just wanted to say thanks too all. Like always the fourm comes through!

Thanks John

John - Could you please post how to do it using HP Tuner software? This would be a great thing for many of us on the forum.
