Im going to order one of these intakes tonight, which one is going to give me the biggest hp gain? Ive heard great things about both, I just want to make sure I get the best one for the long road of mods ahead!
I really dont think you can go wrong with either one esp when you consider they are the top two for HP gains and true cold air intakes. I have the vararam and am very happy with it. It really comes down to the price and looks. Pick the one you like best or pick the one that is cheaper $.
From what I have read they are both among the best. I am also interested in both.
Vararam: High- Great performance, possibly the best.
Lows- Cheezy construction and fit.
Honker: High- Great performance, possibly the best. (in part due to the MAF relocation up to the throttle body?)
Low- It's a bottom feeder. Could be trouble in the puddles.
Had a Vararam on my C5 and just yesterday received the Honker for my C6, though I will wait to put it on.
The Vararam was great on my C5 but the construction was not nearly of the same quality of the Callaway piece.
Performance wise, on the C5 the Vararam is going to be difficult, if not impossible to beat. I don't believe that any CAI is going to perform better than it on the C5. But like mentioned above, the construction is cheesy. Very cheesy.
I could have bought the Vararam Snake Charmer for my C6 but balked at the cheap construction, which is what made me take a close look at the Callaway.

take the calaway and don't look back. i've had a vararam, haltech trap, and trick. the calaway is the best hands down! you can tell as soon as you start your engine!!!!!!!! i also have a new calaway in the box i have to send back, will sell it to you for cost and i'll oay the shipping. i have a 1998, and was sent one that fit 2001 and up. i can take visa, and can ship today!.........541-567-4061
sorry guys, ive been pretty indecisive on this and still have not ordered, i was leaning towards the vararam since i can get one new for 314 shipped but something is telling me to get the honker. Also ive never heard of the hurricane, who makes that?
Had the Vararam like it. Got the Honker and saw much better response and smoothed out throttle response. Sits higher than Vararam but hydrolock is NOT an issue with either product. For the difference in price the Honker is really worth it.

Seriously man.. GET the VARARAM.. It's been proven here for years. The Honker is only getting excitement cause it's the new kid on the block.. the honker is no different than the Breathless Performance Vortex intake of 5 years ago.. Nothing special..
NO other intake has the reported "Consistent" gains at the track that the Vararam does..
After taking off my vararam to put on the third upgraded "gastet kit" and finding A LOT of crap in my thropttle body AGAIN I am in the market for something else. My old car had a vararam with the foam filter and it worked MUCH better at keeping out the crud (it sealed a lot better cause it was foam). No way I'll buy another vararam until they get this filter fitment thing figured out!
Maybe this will help some of you "Fence Sitters" make a decision.
I got a great deal on a Callaway Honker from Corvettes of Houston last week.
$399. shipped and no tax. Talked to Chris and told him that I'm a Forum Member.
It's sitting in the garage now and just I'm looking for some free time in the morning when it's cool out to install it.
