Default LPE Experiences

I am looking for a tuner for my 03 convertable with A4 so I contacted LPE and they said they would get me a quote the next day. That was 5 or 6 days ago. I have even called them and emailed them regarding my quote during this time. This lack of responsiveness concerns me. Based on the fact I am in St Louis once I would send them my car being on time is important to me.

Anyone have any experience with these guys I have read good things in the forum its just strange.

Also I got a bid from DTE. Has anyone had any esperiences using them for major upgrades. They have been helpful and I have read good things about their products as well.

I had DTE do a rearend, torque converter, and headers last summer. Super nice people to deal with. They will have my future business.

Thanks for the input. So far I am getting better information and responsiveness DTE.

The package they quoted should take my 03 with A4 to 430HP. Is this possible and will it still be a good street car?

If I add 3.42 gears and a higher stall TC I have read this can cause the car to be loose on the street. What does this mean?

I looked around at several places last year and finally selected DTE. Phil was flexible WRT my goals and budget. He was willing to spend time helping and educating me on an approach that would allow me to see a big improvement in performance and build on it later with virtually no loss in wasted effort or parts for future mods.

I went with DTE and was very happy with the results. So happy that I'm heading back this week (a 300 mile trip) and having more work done this year. They are a great group of people to work with and they deliver on their promises.

Another vote for DTE. I'll be there next month for a header install and tune.

Default No Lpe

I will not write the whole saga, but sent ZR-1 heads to be ported. Problems:
1. told 14 day turn around was 30. 3 times told finished and shipped not true.
2. Like you found. You call, if the person you want to talk to is not there you leave a message and get no return call.
3. Not impressed with work, had to have it redone at even more cost. When asked LPE stated "that is the way we do it, sorry you don't like it".
So in my opinion anyone but LPE. Lots of people have had good luck with LPE, but they will never get another dollar of my money.

Sounds like someone is getting too big for their britches. That just opens the door for newer, hungrier, businesses that are eager to get the work

I have a qoute from Phil @ DTE. Super people to deal with on the phone. I only wish he were closer to Wisconsin. I plan to do headers, gears & T/C. It looks like Chip is making the trip to Indiana regardless of the miles I will use DTE or FLP in Illinois when I pull the trigger.

Thanks to everyone for their info. Looks like DTE gets the business. One question is do they help phase the porject. Unfortunatily I have more desire than I have money. This will be a two or three year project before it is done.
