High Perf Auto Trans.......Question
Is there any speed advantage from having a high perf. transmission built in place of the stock A4 or is it just to handle the additional HP? I'm in the position of needing to rebuild and was wondering if the shift points are changeable and/or if gears can be heald for a longer time. UI know that the computer can be tuned for performance but I was wondering if the actual unit provides any advantages. I have 3.90's and an considering a Vig 3200 stall converter to upgrade from the PT 2400 I have now in the stock A4.

Advantage is mainly durability. Different friction plates, band, hardened shafts, and you can put a shift kit in. For stock horsepower the computor can be tweaked to up the line pressure and the shift points, along with the time of shifts, for hi horse power have to go with the after market parts.
