Default LCD Going out...help

The temperature LCD box on my center console is almost completely out. Sometimes it will come back and be fully lit, and then dim back out again. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it? THanks

The temperature LCD you're referring to, which is the outside air temperature display on your HVAC module, is actually a vacuum fluorescent display, not a liquid crystal display. There are two circuit boards inside the HVAC module, a power board and a display board. The temp display is driven by a computer chip on the display board. It is prone to problems and cannot be repaired by the typical do-it-yourselfer. Go to ebay and search for HVAC in the C5 Corvette parts area and you should find a repair service that you can send your HVAC module to. If you can't find it on ebay, send me an email at DwayneBell@***.net and I'll hook you up with a guy who does this repair.

The fix can also be seen here:

It can be rather easily accomplished using hand tools and soldering gun.

That's what I posted. Don't waste a dime, spend a couple hours and do the job yourself!

Easy fix......re-solder the 8 surface-mount resistors on the power supply board (housed in the rear half of the module). They're marked with "241" on them. Do one end of each of them, them go back and do the opposite ends. That way, you don't overheat them, and they won't slide around on the board.
