I've been getting a weird thump in my left rear wheel well. It only happens once and usually soon after I start driving in the morning or after work. It almost sounds like the suspension sticks while the car sits overnight and then pops loose. The car doesn't drive any different and it is just one pop.
Its not a big deal to me, but there are so many on this forum that can track these things down or have suggestions. Is this something I should worry about?
i noticed this clunking in that similar location..at first i thought it was my corsa's due to loose exhaust brackets since the kit requires the use of stock brackets. Why i ask you CORSA why?..after i attacked that problem it got much quieter yet the noise still persisted. I then figured it may be my zo6 side scoop mod, since the new wheel wells did not come with the sound deadening patch. I now plan to undercoat these and see if it gets any better. I have two suspisions either the noise is normal and is just more noticable if you have the zo6 mod, or the other thought was when i lowered the vehicle and raised it back up it may have caused issues with the bushings etc....ill let you know if i crack the case
There is actually a sheild in between your gas tank and the body of the car right behind your drivers side seat. It has been known to move "Making a clunking sound" Try to imagine a cap on a jar that has had the seal brokem. If you push down on the cap it will make that popping sound. Thats what the sheild is doing in a much larger fashion.
It has been discussed my tomes before, and I believe you can actually tighten it down.

I believe that I have the same problem. My "pop/thump" only occurs when I flex the suspension by making an off-camber right-hand turn up a slight incline (pulling into driveway). I make this turn VERY slowling. If you can imagine this kind of turn, it takes weight off the drivers side rear tire and I sometimes get this pop/thump.
actually, mine happens just about anytime, straight or turn, but usually only after my car has sat either overnight or through the workday. I do hear it in the morning when I make a sharp left turn to get on the main road outside my house.
I'm going to check some of the ideas above and see if I can track it down.
