1) If I install a cold air system of some kind, will it need to be reprogrammed?

2) If I order a PLII for my totally stock A4 with 2.76 rear and am anticipating getting a 3.42, can I load it and then send the unit in for reprogramming for the 3.42 and what will be the approximate turnaround time? I don't have the gears yet but the 4-5 five weeks delay is about 3-4 weeks out side my patience window.
1> It would be a good idea to get your Powerloader updated if you go to a cold air intake system. When you add an air intake, you increase the amount of air coming into the car and it is a good idea to have the powerloader richen your car up slightly to maximize performance.

2> You can order your Powerloader now programmed for the 2.73s, get the product in the 4-6 weeks, load it on your car and send it back for 3.42 reprogramming. You would deal direct with Steve Cole for the reprogram and I would estimate a 2-3 week turnaround.

I "PowerLoaded" my car on Monday, and what a difference! I highly reccomend it.

The wait time stinks, but good things come to those who wait. :D

Most times on a mechanically sound tranny a shift kit will prolong tranny life. I'm thinking since the trans in the C5 is electronic, the Powerloader is doing the same as a shift kit- increasing line pressure to give firm crisp shifts. Soft shifts are the result of slipping the bands/ clutch packs- promotes wear. Cut down on slippage, cut down on wear
I thought about this as well but I don't think it is the same thing!

I talked to Steve Cole about this exaxt question. If you Have a Cold Air System (Vortex etc.) or Cat Backs, there is really NO Change to the Powerloader Program you get. Still put both in your order form as a mod, but there are no Real changes to the program for these 2 mods.

Thanks for the info. I just found your reply. I think it will be a go for me. I have 2.76 gears. Will it be worth it if I make no mods?

Thanks for the imput. The only thing that doesn't sound good is the wait. With a bone stock C5 with 2.76 gears, maybe there is one sitting on the shelf.

BA2,

The PL is based on your mods, year of car and specific VIN number. No stocking is possible, yet.

For an A4.... the shifting improvements alone are worth it!!!!! Even with no other mods....

I believe (but you may want to double check) that you can later add some basic mods like exhaust & air intake without reprograming.

Just installed my PLII tonight. What an excellent mod! Immediately felt the torque increase, particularly in the lower RPM ranges. I highly recommend it....even on a MN6.
