Default Cam Swap Results...

Anyone perform just the cam swap without the heads? If so....what kind of before and after results did you see on the track or the dyno? What size/spec cam did you use?

Many have done this on their LS1/6 powered C5s and with support bolt ons (headers, Cold air intake, tune) and a great cam like the LGM G5X3 (this is what i would recommend) you can expect to make close to 400 rwhp on your stock headed LS1 car and that is ALOT of power compared to where it is stock. The stock headed Z06 see between 425 and 430 rwhp with this cam only addition (G5X3) and supporting bolt on mods!!

2001 A4 Coupe all the bolt-ons with the G5X3 114LSA cam. NO HEADS
Dyno 391 rwhp with 3.73 gear and Yank SS3600 TC Best to date at the strip is 11.62 at 119.8 mph down the 1/4. Heads are coming as soon as the mod fund is replenished.

Great results all.....and the cost? For those who performed this swap at a shop, what was the total of parts/labor? What other changes were made at the time? And most importantly.....how's the driveability after?

I'm curious too. Considering 224/230 .582/.588 114 , Livernois Stage 1 heads and w/stock converter. Love to hear opinions on cam threads.

see sig for mine

Alot of guys go with cams w/o heads, and then most of them (like me ) say, wow that's fun, let me put heads on it and see what it can do.

its all part of the addiction

Well,... where I am at right now is, big intake, hedders, hy-flow cats, x-Pipe, B&B bullet twins, lower temps and LS6 manifold waiting to go on! and now where I want to go Is cam and fule jets (#30s) to match the LS6 manifold. what I guess I need to know Is how much cam is enough and how much is too much??? remember I must pass emissions I know that there some damn smart people on this forum and what ever advice I can get will be apreatiated And the alternitive is to go with the new "dart heads" for the LS1 but how will that effect my driving 3000 miles across country?? I think I know and the answer for me is that what I need most Is reliability so this Is why I was asking about just the cam in the other wise "stock" (internales) moter...................anyone?

Went with a reverse split Comp cams 228/222 588/581 @114.5 lsa and a set of SS long tubes.

Stock heads, stock 2.73 gears.

Picked up 66 rwhp and 34 rwtq Haven't been to the track yet, but I figure mid 12's easy.
