We have a 2004 C5, that's a high 10 second car. My dilemma is whether I keep the Sleeper look with the polished C5 rims with PS2's,
295's on the back, on the street, lowered an inch or so, the stance is great. And the original authentic stock Vette apperance or?
Spend the money to go with 19 or 20's and make it a visually pleasing car?
i have always appreciated the "stock/sleeper" look, but the lowered look with 19's is a winner!
my other 2 cents is, you have a c5 corvette that comes from the factory looking nothing like a sleeper. plus you probably have a loud exhaust and a cam rumble (10 second cars cant hide this) so might as well do the do, and slam it and put new shoes on her. just my take though
Keep it clean and lean. No use in drawing any unwanted attention. If nothing else, if it looks classy, some cheese eatin' sh$$t rat might want to borrow it!!!!
I say compromise..........tub it and stuff it with 18/18s with just a polished lip. You will not like the change going to anything bigger than 19" IMHEO
Works good on my 97', gets good traction and still blends in very well
I like the sleeper look...........my 68' Camaro still looks stock
Stay with the stock look. You can have a lot of fun (at the track of course) with unsuspecting victims that think your 10 second Vette is stock. A lot of guys with mid to low 12 second cars (Mustangs, Camaros, Neons, Evos etc, etc) love to pick on stock C5 Vettes because they know they can beat them. Naturally it’s hilarious when the “stock” C5 they were sure they were going to beat leaves them like they’re standing still.

That is when I have my most fun....as it sit in the above pic with 345/30/18 drs on it it cracks 10's in the 1/4.
The HRE's make them think its a little flash and no go........
Drive up, lower the pressure, strap in & go
In this pic.......10.97 vs his 11.31........

That’s what I’m talking about! He probably never gave you a second thought until about half track when he wondered why/how you were still there next to him (and probably starting to pull away).

I had a little fun that day..........
My run with the Monte is the 1st slip
Thanks to everyone that replied. It really helps to hear your opinions.
I'm driving myself nuts sitting in the garage having a few beers staring at the vette trying to figure out what to do.
I do agree that for right now I like the stock original look.
Not to mention a set of premo wheels and tires will go for a few plus grand, which could probably get me another few ponies instead.
