noisey brakes

put the stock pads back on and your troubles will go away..I have 60,000 miles on my Eradispeed +2 and I do not have noise.. I use stock ACDelco pads.. The hawk pads almost ruined my Eradispeeds I took them off in a week..Put the stockers back on.

I can remember many many people here who got the package complaining about brake noise. It became referred to here on the forum as the "School bus brake squeal".
"My Car sounds like a "School Bus"
The poster of this thread seems to be experiencing the same issues.
I believe the quality control of the pads are the real issue...
Pads are designed to have a high level of surface friction, and with this design, brake pads lose their compound while being engaged with the rotor...to keep the pads from wearing out quickly, a metallic or ceramic material is added to the compound... the amount can be any where from 5 % up to 20 %... the higher the % the less dusting their is, but because this reduces the frictional force it is harder to stop and they will increase in temp when engaged...
Sometimes these metallic pads can get what is referred too as "work hard.".
meaning: the metal has become harder than the surface of the rotor..
these tiny slivers of metallic will then make noise... Sometime the break in procedure can turn these slivers hard...
If the Brakes are making a "School Bus sound" it is because the pads are approaching the hardness of the rotors.. those tiny groves found in most rotors are the harder parts of the brake pads being witnessed by the rotor surface...small grooves are typical... its when those particles become so hard, thats when they start to squeal...
I try to draw pictures that can put pieces of the puzzle together for even the newbies here...
Your brakes should Not squeal.... New cars do not squeal, the OEM choices for brakes and rotors go through many quality check before they become approved... Ford uses something called Q1 quality approval... GM uses ISO 9000 for their suppliers.
Hope this helps

Secondly if your rear rotors have fire paths that are much larger than the pads then you have an old style Baer rotor... are your rear rotors 14 inch??? If you recently bought them, they should look like mine,...
Baer updated the design over a year ago,, if you just purchased them New, you got old stock and you should have been told that... or they should have given you a really good price like 300 dollars for the rears... I would not pay 200 dollars for the old design, where the pad only covers half the fire path and leaves the rotors with a two toned look.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

you should be pissed. you paid big money for a old style rotor..its heavier and it looks bad.. Sorry but it pisses me off as well when a shop takes you over.. I would demand your money back.. I would not take a discount either.. I would tell them to contact baer and get you the updated rotors for the money you spent... Ive seen vendors here selling the New design rear rotors 14 inch+ 2 ERadispeeds for 500 dollars....
