Default Stripped Lug Threads

Last night I found that one of my lugs was stripped (left rear). I can't get any of the lug nuts to start on the threads of that lug, so it's pretty much toast.

I've never had to replace lugs. Are these hard to remove and replace? Anyone know if I should order through a dealer or is there a better option?

Thanks for any advice!

double check to see if it's only the first of second threads that are "boogered" up. if so, take a small jewelers file to dress the threads. seems to me, that if you got the lug nut off, most of the threads should be "OK". clean up the threads as best you can, add a small amount of lube, and give her another shot. other than that, i have never had any luck replacing wheel studs on the car. - BTW, if the thread cleaning/lube works, dont forget to clean the lube off before final assembly, and ALWAYS, repeat, ALWAYS use a torque wrench, star pattern, 50#, 75#, 95#, double check after 50 miles - yada, yada...

get a die,,, if its not too bad you can chase the threads or do that the last guy said..

I am not sure ,, looks like a bitch to change out studs.

Never tried on a c5, but older cars were not too bad, you can get studs at the stealer.....or if you have a high milage car, replace the whole hub...

I have not had to replace one on my C5, but C4 and other cars were a breeze.

On the C4, I just hit it with a 3# hammer a few times, and it poped right out the back. get some nuts the same as lug nuts, and a bunch of washers, and just pull it through by tightening with a big breaker bar, watching the back so you know when it seats.

15 minutes.

I would still try the die first though.
