I dont have any real cool insider information on this issue, while I am an expert in many areas of a C5, this isnt one of them.... I would agree that 200 is a good number, cooler would be better to a point..., the DIC warning is not to be constrewed as anything under is ok....
I know what the sweet spot for engine cooling and oil temps are, and suspect the tranny would be similar...
190/200 coolant
200/210 oil
with lubrication to cool is as bad as too hot...obviously... @ 180 tranny oil would be lubricious enough to have the right characteristics, keeping it between 180 and 210 would be ideal... just my educated guess..no real data on this one , sorry...

I certainly have NO knowledge(I don't even know what the insides of a tranny look like) ........but after talking to FLT I came to understand that within reason (above 100*) cold temps are not a concern. ONLY high temps ruin trannies.
Just did a track day yesterday and my tranny temps got up to 225 and thats with a large radiator and an external cooler.
