I want to remove my body side moldings. Car is a 00 Torch Red. Is this a mistake? Will the 6yr old paint under the moldings ever look like the rest of the car? How do I get them off safely? All opinions welcomed, good idea or bad idea? Thanks

I agree the car looks much better without those things. If you remove them with the fishingline method and remove the glue, you can always put them back on. Try the small front piece first.
NOT-too flat on each side without them. This is one area my 69' looked better than my C5. The old "Coke bootle" shape was nice, the C5 is too flat on the sides without something to break up all the flatness.

Try using 100% Isopropyl....
Don't try anything like actetone, you'll ruin the paint.
PS~ I like the molding... Besides the look, it saved my car from a couple of "dings". I can't understand why if I go and park my car way off by itself in a corner of a parking lot, some a$$hole has to not only come park next me, but also hit me with his door.
I just removed the BSM's on my torch red '03 with no problems. Unless your car spends all its time sitting outside in the sun you shouldn't have any problems with the color. I used dental floss to remove mine. Then, with a hairdryer or heat gun warm the glue and you should be able to rub off the remaining glue with your finger. Next I used wax and grease remover to clean the area, followed by some light polishing and then wax. Looks like they were never there.

There are a number of goo removers you can get. 3M makes a good one and there's a few others all available at Home Depot. TEST IT ON AN INVISIBLE AREA FIRST!
i just removed them from my 02 electron blue and had no problems and it looks great.....
what kind of cars are you guys parking next to that these ugly turd looking pieces help with? as low as we are to the ground i don't see any benefit
Grrrrrrrr.....
No matter how far off I go out into "left field" to park away from everyone else..... It never fails, some dipstick will come way out there, just to park next to my vette.....
