I just ordered for my mechanic to install a new ATI LS1 Super Damper. ATI recommended their Dowel Crank Pin Fix Kit which allows a drilling into the crank of a hole for a dowel to strengthen the installed Damper. The mechanic said this was very hard with the engine on as the space is tight. This is a 402 LS2 Stroked engine. What do you guys think? Yellow vette, Pewter vettes yellow brother.
have him to go ati's website and get the install direction for the ati sc kit. the instructions have directions on how to pin the crank with the tight clearances by only tweaking up the rack, but since the rack has to be out for him to replace your pulley, it should be easy to drill and pin the crank without the directions.
I did it in my garage when I installed the cam.
ps. sorry for the lower case type. im too lazy to use the shift key
He can do it while its on the car... just takes a little work. Congrats on the new pulley.. I have the ATI damper on my car with an 8 rib setup. Its an outstanding part and IMO Its the best one on the market.
Easy with the engine in the car, especially if the rack is already out of the car which it needs to be for the pulley anyhow. I drilled mine from the driver's side.
side question. i just ordered a 10% underdrive aluminum dampner from ati, what belt sizes do i need? anyone know? thank you. do both belt sizes change also?
