I get a low fuel alert with a full tank of gas.. Sometimes I am driving and all of a sudden the fuel gage reads empty and I get the low fuel alert.. I have a predator programmer and I have erased the errors in the DIC and it goes away.. It has happened 3 times over about 6 months.. Any ideas?
Problem,, I thought they came factory standard the erratic fuel gauge. After 2 new sending units and reprogramming not to mention high sulphur gas, I just add Techron every 3 or so months. 99 Nassau Blue
....yes, just add a large bottle of TECHRON to your nearly empty tank & then every other fill up & that should clean up that sticking fuel sending unit...
I have just been filling up with Chevron Techron when it happens and goes away for a few months. Mine is a 2001 with 63 on the clock and it just started this about 6 months ago ( twice in 6 mo. not bad )
Chevron fuel has the additive TECHROLENE which is a very good fuel detergent/cleaner. If you cant find a Chevron station, you can add the Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner and after a couple of bottles, it should resolve the issue. Like it was stated above, it works best when added to an empty tank and then filled with fuel. Add a bottle every other tank or so to keep the problem from returning.

I use only Chevron Fuel and add a bottle of Techron every other month. Sulfer deposits on the sending unit causes this. I guess some fuels have more sulfer than others. Keep your eyes peeled for specials on the Techron. All the major auto parts stores run sales on this product quite often.
You can also do a search for "Techron" to learn that periodically running a bottle or two through the system will clean off the deposits on the fuel sender. Works like a charm
