Default Pushrod Length For Ls6 Motors?

Just curious is there a difference in lengths on the LS1 motors than the LS6 motors when it comes to the pushrods? I think 7.4 is the standard for both, but want to make sure.

Thanks in advance,

Micah

yes the pushrods are 7.4. GM made up for the longer LS6 head valve stems by reducing the base circle of the stock LS6 cam...

Great, I am running LS6 heads, but the cam I have is 232/236 .575/.578 113+2 LSA and I think that my non-milled CNC'd LS6 heads and stock length pushrods are the ticket, unless someone thinks differently.

aftermarket cams and LS6 heads usually require shorter pushrods if they have the stock LS6 hollow valves...try the Z06 forum, bet they can tell you for sure...

It'll work. I'm running TSP chromoly 7.4 PRs with my 237/242 603/609 113LSA cam, and they work fine. I was told I could also use 7.425 PRs to reduce the valvetrain noise(sewing machine sound).

Thanks for the information. I am certain that I have things worked out now that I got my car going back together, but it is always nice to get other opnions.

Your sig says your running PRC 243 heads. I'm pretty sure PRC heads comes with aftermarket valves and not the longer stock hollow GM LS6 valves even if they are stock size valves. Most CNC head companies just buy bare castings and use aftermarket stainless valves. This will make a difference in what pushrod length is needed...

They put stock LS2 valves in the heads that I got.

The LS2 uses the 01' Z06 cam which is the standard LS1 base circle. In 2002 the LS6 got the longer hollow valves and small base circle cams. So I'm guessing the LS2 valves are standard length and not longer like the 02' and up LS6...

Either way I would check lifter preload and pushrod length. Also make a call the someone like LG motorsports or A&A corvettes to make sure...

After reading the different posts that I have found and was provided and I think my 7.4 lengths will be fine.
