Difference in old and superceded oil pumps?

Hi:

There's two parts numbers floating around for an LS1 oil pump, the "old" number and the superceded number. Is there any difference in the part itself?

Old: 12556436
Superceded: 89059282

The 12556436 is NOT a valid part # in the system and the 89059282 is for a slave cylinder, not an oil pump. I could not find any history on the 12556436 and it does not look to ever be a good #.
