I have a 2002 Coupe 6 speed with the 3.42 (GU6) rear end. Inside the glove box are the various RPO codes. My sticker shows both MM6 and MN6. It would appear to be 2 different codes for the transmission............Are these 2 entirely different trannies?
One says you have a 6spd, the other is the specific tranny, an MN6. Z06s have an MN12. It's sort of like the performance rear on A4s, G90 and G92. One is the performance option, the other is the specific 3.15 ratio.
So with my codes being GU6, MN6, MM6 I have a.........
GU6 = 3.42 rear ratio
MN6 = 6 speed manual trans
MM6 = Borg-Warner (is this a better trans or is this the only non ZO6 trans available in a 2002 coupe?)
Is my assumptions correct?
Thanks for your help, Bill
Actually, I think MM6 is a generic BW (now Tremec) T56 tranny. MN6 is the 2.66 1st gear, close-ratio tranny that is every non-Z06 C5. MN12 is the 2.97 1st gear wide-ratio Z06 tranny. IMHO, the mn12 is probably better for drag racing, and the MN6 for streat driving and road racing.
