Computer dic codes missing failed Illinois air polution test
now they insert a connect to the dashboard, and even though my check lite is off, they say the computer readings are missing on my computer......I t works fine, all dic readings show H, and its fine and working as too settings, milage, oil reading, etc.
She says maybe the battery was disconnected from the
car, so settings werent, there.
Should i reset the computer drive 40 miles and will the
settings record, or do i have a defective computer.
Car works, drives fine...dont want to dealer destroy.

completed. As suggested it the battery was disconnected
codes would have been reset. Normal driving and time should
allow the tests to complete. Then you should be ok.

"computer readings are missing on my computer"?
She(?) didn't say what the hell computer readings she was talking about? It may just be that their connector or cable is having problems and their test equipment cannot establish communications with your computer(PCM).
Clear all those H codes, put a few miles on her and check to see if any have re-occured. If any do, see if any are carrying a "U" prefix and see which system is involved. "U" codes have to do with communication on the serial data line (computer and sensors use it to talk to each other). It doesn't always mean any real problems exist though, especially if you don't have any failure sypmtoms in a system. For example, U1016, U1064 and U1096. These only mean a sporadic or temporary loss of comm in the RFA system and unless there is also an accompanying problem, these can be ignored.
Maybe the putz at the test location just couldn't figure out he's got a damaged cable or connector. They do after all use them many times daily.
Another suggestion would be to go to another test location to see if they experience the same thing. HTH.
Illinois is in such bad shape, I think your right.

Good luck

Nope, they're not gov't. employees. They are contract employees hired by a company that was hired by the State of Illinois to operate their testing stations. Most of these people look like they received their G.E.D. degrees from Joliet State Correctional Facility. Inept---to say the least.

I'm glad that Ohio finally saw the light and killed this program (at least temporarily). The contract workers that I came into contact w/ here weren't of the highest caliber.
IL is a real s**t hole when it comes to government. A past Gov is close to spending time in jail as the jury is in delberation as we speak and the present Gov. is also under investigation. The Cook co. board president would be next if he hadn't just had a stroke.
Too bad we can't just plug a bogus comp in for the OBDMII for testing purposes. Hey now there's an idea. Anyone know how to program something to trick the Green police?
