I need some help. I went to start the car and the battery was dead. I charged the battery and know the car starts great but as soon as I get to about 1200 - 1500 rpm, the car dies. It starts right back up but as soon as I start increasing the rpm it dies.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do to start the problem solving program.
First see if it dying is related to time or engine speed.
Start it and just let it idle. If it idles fine for longer than a few minutes, then it sounds like it's dying cause of fuel delivery or RPM related issues.
Also, you aren't trying to move the car when this happens are you? There's a fuel pump shutoff for some MN6 cars driven over 3MPH, under some conditions.
Do a search for a BCM relearn, to relink the BCM to the PCM. Case of beer says this is the problem
Here's the procedure.
1. Turn on the key for 11 minutes.
2 Turn off the key for 30 seconds.
3. Repeat 1&2 two more times.
4. Turn on the key for 30 seconds.
BTW, do the above with the car not running. All times are minimum.

You are right!! The car runs great!!
What caused the car to lose the link between the BCM and the PCM?
The battery has been dead many times without this problem.
I owe you a case of beer. If you are ever in St. Louis, look me up and I will pay my debt.

LOL, I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully I won't have to collect all at once, I'll just collect a can here and there as I pass through
Hey at least I didn't send you down the path chasing your fuel presssure and the VATS system. Just kidding I wouldn't do that to anyone, purposely.

The C5 just doesn't like electrical issues. Low or dead batter will lead to a host of codes/issues.
Here's what happened to me recently:
Disconnected the battery to install a Wide Band O2 sensor, and got code x1001 when I reconnected it. The code has something to do with the air bag module VIN and the PCM VIN not matching. I'm thinking WTF?? Worked fine before I disconnected the battery. So I threw the battery on the charger for about 30 minutes and poof, code gone...who knew
The car idles fine. It dies as soon as I start to move. Once the car is under a load it dies. The car ran fine before the battery went dead.
Any other help?
Have you ever seen a message that says "PULL KEY WAIT 10 SEC"??
If you have, that indicates that the PCM is pulling the fuel (fuel cut off) because the VATS system is not seeing the correct resistance form the pellet in your key.
My battery lost power and then my car would die when I hit the gas. It idled fine...I followed your procedures and now the car doesn't die!
My thanks and beers to you, if you are in Omaha....
