Default active handling warming up won't go away

I just finished my supercharger install and went for a couple mile spin around town and the whole time(10 min round trip, with a few stops) it continued to say active handling warming up. I have seen the message for a few seconds before and know that it is normal to come on, but this seem very long and it wouldn't go away. There are no tcs codes so I don't know if I just need to drive it longer or what. Any insight would be great!
Thanks!

When you hooked the steering column coupler back up to the rack and pinion you had the steering wheel off by 360 degrees, or possibly 720 degrees. The computer senses the steering wheel position as part of the Active Handling system. So it's thinking you're making a hard turn, but it doesn't compute with the rest of the data it is receiving. Thus the "AH warming up" message. It will probably start throwing a myriad of other messages too.

The question is which way did you turn the wheel, and by how many turns? You can just go 360 in one direction, and if that doesn’t work, then try the other direction. But beware that you do not wrap the airbag wiring around inside the steering column so tight that it either triggers the air bag or disconnects it. If you go this route, just do it VERY gingerly, paying attention to any feeling of binding of the wires.

The right way to do it is to take it to a shop that can read the computer-sensed steering wheel position.

FYI – I know all this because the same thing happened when I had my front main seal replaced and the mechanic did the same thing. It took me a few days of research, and then about 2 minutes to fix it. I went with the try it one way (didn’t work) and then the other way, and got lucky. And I KNOW I didn’t disconnect the air bag, because a month or so later the air bag worked perfectly when I put the car into a guard rail! . . . NOT a recommended testing technique!!!

Good luck!

Dave

Thank you for the reply. That is very interesting to know. After about 20 minutes of driving it actually went out. The only thing is I know the wheel didn't get moved. I have the wheel locked when I remove the rack with it straight and then remove the rack. I have the car on the dyno right now so I hope the message doesn't come back on. Thanks again for the info!
