While driving from Tampa last night I noticed that my dash lights dimmed. All by themselves. Twice. Is this a current problem with 2001's. Or am I just blessed again.

Hi there,
Confirm that your voltage signal, indicated on the DIC is not dropping from where it is normally when driving.
If not, attempt to move the light rheostat on the side of the DIC, and see if it changes. Not rotating it, just moving up and down, and let us know what happens.

c4c5specialist.......Thanks for the quick reply. The 2nd time it dimmed I looked at the voltage gauge and it was up there (13.?) I'm going out in a little while. I'll leave the DIC on voltage and see if there is a drop. I'll also move the little **** up and down and see if this produces any results.
I'll post in the morning.

I have an '01 Z06 and mine has done this a couple times. The interior lights dim back to normal daylight brightness, but the headlights and everything else stays on. Adjusting the brightness doesn't do anything, and all gauges show fine. After about 5 or 10 seconds they brighten back up again.
It's so intermittent I'd hate to try and get a dealer to fix it.

c4c5specialist......Just got back home and it didn't do it again. I even fiddled with the dimmer **** and nothing.

I had this happen a few times and I thought I was imagining things (it happens in a split second). Battery showed normal voltage. Then I found out that I could duplicate the situation when I pushed the window buttons at night with all accessories on (air, fan, radio). I figured the battery just didn't have that much capacity for all the electronics so I Replaced with a Optima yellow top. It still does it occasionally but not as bad and not very frequently. On a side note, I recently also noticed that the MPH light on the dash flickered during the day - found out there was a photo light eye of some sort above the DIC that adjusts brightness based on ambient light.
