I've had a terrible intermittent problem which has happened 5 times or so over the past few months, the dealer fixes it, the car is ok for a while usally a week or 10 days, then it happens :mad the car will not start. it seems to have plenty juice but it just dies right before it turns over, i checked the #17 fuse and afew others and they are fine any thoughts :cry so far they have fixed the tac mod, replaced the bcm, the fuel pump, what the fu*k
:mad :cry
Hey dude... We got the new Cloyes/Jwis setup on the car, but No Dice.. Valves are GONE... Pulling heads this weekend. Replacing ALL the valves. I don't want to slow down and have them checked at a machine shop. I mean, some will be abviously bent and I'll have pics, but I don't trust the ones that look ok unless they are spun and I don't have time for that. Only $150 to replace all the valves. Will lap them into the seats.
As long as I have no piston damage I should be back on the road soon with current engine. MMS is building an All-Bore 388 for me. ETA 4 more weeks? Will be cool! Damn rental is chewing up the wallet..
Plus I had to add MORE junk.. SVO Injectors, Spent $550 on Katech Main Caps.. etc. LOL Sick man.. SICK!! I better make some money racing ricers or something! Ever race anyone for cash down here?? ;)
hang in there, all will be well sooner or later....the sooner the better though, I've never raced for $$$, as i dont trust my driving ability too much
Can't believe it happened again to you. The suggestions given by most here will help for sure and maybe point the dealer in the correct direction. I would have a psark checker and fuel pressure gage on her while it is happening to check the basics. If that is okay, check for injector pulse with a noid light and RPM reference with a Tech 2 while cranking. Sucks dude.
By the way, Mello did call me about his all-bore. I think he has wesy coast envy :D Good luck this time with your all bore Mello. If you get a chance, let me know what helped you make your decision. Just curious. Thanks.
I love the MMS Cams. I have to return my existing cam and my deal had a lot of headaches involved. I'm doing a trade for my existing setup without any downtime, so my heads are swapping out AFTER I receive the new S3 heads and I won't have to pull/rework my current heads. Going to have the entire setup crated as 1 piece. Not too many shops would want the headache of all my used parts back, but I worked out a deal. I really like how smooth my 224v3 was. So basically swapping my engine out for a completely new setup. I recc a lot of business to Norris tho! Also recc'd my mechanic give you a call sometime in case you need installers in SE FLA. Thanks!
mike, If i remember your Mech is Angel, he is excellent and would prefer to have him do the diognostics on this but i live all the way down south near the falls and its a hassel to get it up to maroone, but if they cant get it right this time at Dadeland chevy I'll have to. Let me know when the motor is done :smash: my 422 should be done by sept end
Hi Skeeter,
I would check for theft deterrent codes in the PCM, 1626, or 1631.
These are fuel enable signal codes, and I would suggest that you check on this first, as you may have contact problems in the ignition switch, creating the condition.
I would check on this, as a start stall, is usually a result of the theft deterrent system.
Best to you, c4c5
Yup, Angel! I highly recc him at Maroone.
My car is on his lift at home tho and he's moving a LOT slower than normal with it. :( Hope he gets it back together soon!! :(
Might be something as easy as tightening up the battery cables. You know... they're tight enough to allow current for interior lights and convenience functions but when you go to crank, ain't nothing but a little speck o dirt preventing you from getting the million amps you need for the starter!! Can be intermittent, too.
I just remembered a problem i had with a C5 at the dealer. Have them check the power connection at the interior fuse block. It is basically a positive cable from the battery to the inside of the car on the passenger side. they will need to pull up the interior fuse box to get to it as it connects on the backside.
