Hope it all works out! It would be nothing for one of the companies who built these there all the time to make on for a C5, don't know why the don't. Glad to see someone stepping up to the plate!

I'll probibly do a promotional price in the begining to get a handfull of them out there. I just got off the phone with the company who will be producing these for us, we should have pricing and the first one completed shortly. I'll keep everyone informed, thanks!

It's not a feasible bolt on for a C5....Thats the problem.

The "bellhousing" is one piece and welded to the Torque tube. An F-Body however is a different story.

If a rule gets passed regarding C5's Im sure it will be related to having to run a safety blanket which I believe there is enough room for and would probably be a good idea for the guys leaving on the wood close to (or at) the rev limiter. Let's face it, its a good idea for any stick car, but seriously a good idea for the guys pushing the limits and trying to lay down the number (low ET #). It's yet another reason I purposely don't push my car real hard getting out of the hole (higher tire pressure and 4500-5000 launch RPM)...I can always subtract a couple of tenths from my ET and the MPH will be practically identical.

I would place a small wager that a blanket around the bellhousing might be mandatory shortly....especially with how easy it is to make stupid power from these LS1's these days and inevidably more and more clutch explosions at NHRA tracks.

I would be interested in one when they are done. Can't believe with the HP these cars are making they are not mandatory.

Maybe you have worked on a different C5's than we have. The bell housing bolts to the torque tube and can easily be replaced with a steel replacement.

I think the reason why NHRA never implimented this rule is simply because they are clueless when it comes to the C5 platform. I think they thought the clutch was in the rear along with the trans personally. When we were trying to get roll cage info out of them, as far as specs and placement goes, they had absolutly no idea what we were dealing with. It litterally was left as "read the rules and do your best".
I am surprised that it took a half dozen broken windshields to bring this to a head.

Default Count me in!!

I'm interested. Any idea of the timeframe?

I'm doing a clutch now and can leave the car sit for quite some time.

I want one as well. Will they be available in about a month? Else I will have to go with the blanket that is available now.

SFI makes a Kevlar blanket to try and contain clutch schrapnel that is probably the next best thing. Here's a link: www.cajundude.com/blanket.htm. Pictures show it installed on a pulled engine, and the comment is that it might be very difficult to install in the car due to the cramped space.

SFI "Sema Foundation, Inc." is a safety rating, actually, the company that gives a safety rating to particular products. You can get the blanket from Exotic Muscle Cars if they still have any. Apparently the guy who makes them is a, well, .... You know, I have no idea if this thing will work but it is certainly better than nothing. I hope I never have to test it. I'm in for a scattershield from ECS if the price is reasonable. I would hope they don't impose a Vette tax on this when they do produce it. I'm getting really sick of that shyte.

I remember back in the 70's out at National speedway on Long Island Scatter Shields were a must to race no matter what. Any car with a 4 SPEED and a V8 had to have scatter shields it just made GOOD sence!!!!!

The Flywheel/flex plate just blew apart in my A4 car. Put some big holes in the bell housing. Scared the hell out of me, I was shifting into 2nd at 6200 rpm

I just got the word that we are about 4 weeks out, I have been in this business long enough to know that it will be at least 6. I dont want to hold anyone up, they might come on time, but performance parts usually dont.

I would be interested in getting in on this purchase. I have grown quite fond of my legs and feet.

The bellhousing is very limited in space. I think it would be nearly impossible to install a blanket around the top and secure it sufficiently. I would like to see a bolt on steel replacement bellhousing. Tolerances would have to be kept tight though to avoid misalignment issues between the crank and torque tube.

Keep us posted.

Any more news? Timing seems about right for me. Now how about a ballpark price. <$300, < $400, < $too much?

Did these parts ever materialize? What is the status?
