Default Scatter Shields in near future?

Does anyone know who's C6 blew there clutch through his windshield Wednesday night at Englishtown? I just got a call stating that there is talk of all late model LS1 corvettes, camaros and firebirds who are running 11.50 OR LOWER WILL BE REQUIRED to have SCATTER SHIELDS. Anyone else have any other info reguarding this matter.

I agree. No one wants to lose their feet (or worse) to a clutch/flywheel explosion.

If therre is a market, they will build it. I have run a Lakewood on my 63 for 35 years, so I would give them a call (a whole bunch of ya) and ask them for a price.

Someone will make one. With lots of stick shift equipped c5's launching with some nutty rpm's, I'm surprised no one's made one yet.

I've seen some pics of clutch explosions...it is NOT pretty.

This isn't the first story of c5's blowing clutches.

that is why i try to stay away from the dragstrip and the launches,i stick to rolling start races and is less stress on the drivetrain.

Default Non Available Yet?

I called around last month. No one has any interest in making one. I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

I'm sure there is a market out there. The C5 was in production for 9 years.

I'm going to get a blanket, it's better than nothing.

Coincidentally, we have been in the works with this. I'll post up pics in a couple of weeks when it is closer to mass production. We have seen two cars come in that had flywheels go through the windshield (not our brand of clutches or installed here) so we thought it was a good open, and necessary market. I'm surprised it wasn't mandidtory a while ago.

Default I'm In !!!

So what would something like this cost, to both purchase and to install? I’m surprised that someone like Dyno Tech Engineering or Elite Engineering hasn’t already come up with one. They should sell like hotcakes. Especially if you have ever seen a clutch explode. How many of you guys remember Don Garletts of Top Fuel fame?

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

I think it's pretty sad that so many of our Supporting Vendors have all the time in the world to squeeze an extra 5 hp out of a heads / cam combo, but when it comes to safety equipment they're nowhere to be found.

They can make windshield washer fluid yeild us higher hp and less detonation, but they cant come up with a piece of steel to protect our legs.

If ANYONE will make one it will be ECS.

Put me on the group purchase list for one unit. Oh by the way, any idea what this thing will cost?

Hope it all works out! It would be nothing for one of the companies who built these there all the time to make on for a C5, don't know why the don't. Glad to see someone stepping up to the plate!
