Ok, Ive seen post before about the battery going dead after a week or two of not driving.
However, I started vette fine this am. Looked at DIC and it showed 14.2 volts. So figure all is ok. Back it out, rinse off, dry, put on coat of polish and go to start. Clik, click, click. Will not start.
I too have had this happen when I have not driven for awhile, but this is the first time this has occurred right after it started ok and then an hour later dead! Whats happening???

Optima Redtop is only 2 yrears old.
14.2 was voltage from alternator.
More than likely you battery is toast.
Any optima battery dealer will replace for free.
You might want to consider upgrading to yellow top.
I have had a yellow top in my car for 2 years not a issue at all.
I have 2 JL AUDIO amps I run my stereo constantly without the car running.
Sometimes 5-6 hours. Last year after radio playing for 4 hours I even jump-started a C5 at cruise in and ran stereo for another 2 hours and car still started.
Yellow top is the only way to go.
Is it a 6-speed? If so, I have had a problem with similar indications where I drove it to the grocery store and then could not start it 20 minutes later. I couldn't even get the engine to turn over at all. Then after about 15 tries using both keys it all of a sudden started fine. I still don't know what caused it, but it's the only time it ever happened... Your car obviously started eventually? Or did it require a jump?
I've never had a problem with my Wal Mart battery. Amazing how many people have documented problems with Opima but keep buying them. Drink the Kool-Aid.......Red or Yellow, tastes the same.
So what's so strange about your car going dead??? You have an Optima battery don't you. This happens all the time, and as rikhek has noted, people still continue to buy them...Go figure....
