I know this has been discuss many times but did a search and couldn't find anything. Anyone know what is the best launch technique for an A4? Plus, what is the best PSI for the tires when running at the track? TIA!
My method-- staged, traction control set in competition mode ( Active handling on / traction control off) brake torque the car. Left foot on brake pressing on gas to bring rpm up to close to stall speed on converter, takes slop out of driveline. At second yellow release brake and ease on gas to avoid too much wheel spin. Once hooked up hammer it. This is running stock EMT's using 28 lbs pressure. Drag radials or other strip tires need different technique.

Power brake it. Inflate front tires to 40 PSI. I know they are runflats, but it willstill help. Rears to 28.

If your car is a 1998-2000 with Generation 1 Active Handling, you'll have to turn off both Traction Control and Active Handling to powerbrake the car. With Generation 1, in Competitive Driving, torque management intervenes when you attempt to powerbrake. The further you depress the accelerator the further down engine power will cycle. Generation 2 Active Handling, as mentioned, will allow you to power brake in Competitive Driving.

Turn traction controll off. Brake torque just enough to torque the car up a little. When the lights come down, floor it. I'm running EMTs at 35 psi all around(not that this is a part of my technique, this is just where they are at). I have not done anything with tire pressures. I have never had any wheel spin. :chevy
How can you "floor it" & not have some tire spin???
Even when I had the 2.73 axle w/EMTs it would spin alot in 1st & a good chirp into 2nd (but still ran mid-13's). With my 3.42 rear, Powerloader, & pilot sports, I'm in the 12's but have even more tire spin!!!
Still working on my launch... but what seems to work best, so far, is launching at about 12-1500, with less than full thottle... anything over about 3/4 throttle seems to get uncontrolable spin. Once the tires hook up, then floor it.
I had real good 60' times by heating up the Run Flats real good before I staged. Still learning how to launch on the Michelins :( plus I just bought some drag radials but haven't really got to try em out yet.
