If I take off my Ripper, and change back to stock air intake I can run a lower NCCC class. Problem is I love my Ripper!
But after thinking about it is it really doing anything other than changing the pivot point of the shifter to shorten the travel of the shift **** between gears? I can do the same thing by cutting down the stock shifter, (which appears to be legal, but need to check).
The ripper also has a much stronger set of springs in it, allowing the shifter to return to center much more cleanly than stock. This is what allows you to make that 2 -> 3 shift better, the centering spring brings the shifter over to center more effectively.
It's the relocation of the pivot point that makes the biggest difference. While cutting down the shift arm will help a bit, you will still feel a big difference between that and the Ripper shifter.
