Hi Everyone. I'm new to the arena of Corvette ownership and have decided on purchasing a Hurricane intake for my 03 Z. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how hard it is to install and how long I can expect it to take. I called WCC and they quoted me $299 on the black plastic one and for sh*ts n' grins I asked how much to install and they told me $280. I think that is insane.
Anyways, wanted to get opinions on install difficulty and times so I can pick one up today.
If you are interest i have a used Hurricane and a carbon fiber Z06 405 hp high flow power duct. I recently went to a TTi Stage 1 twin turbo kit.
Hurricane $299.99
Z06 power duct $319.99
Totals $619.98 Sell for $335.00 and will pay your shipping
I'm digging this thread up b/c of a search, and I'm interested in your F/S, Purefun. I read the instructions on WCC, and they seem pretty simple. I'm not an uber-experienced wrench-turner, but I think I can handle this. Any problems or potential difficulties I should know about? It seems really straightforward, but I'm trying to figure out where others have had problems before I get into something I can't do myself.
I have had a Hurricane for 2 years, in and out 4 times for filter cleaning and re-charge. Make sure you want this system before you put it in. SLP blackwing or Haltech Stinger are both great and easier to deal with.
I took about 2 hours the first time I installed it. be careful of the underhood light cable and the sensor at the bottom on the shroud. Use rhino ramps so you can get under the front easier to remove the screws down there under the front. There is a little box that has a small filter type thing in it. that goes on the hose that connects to the stock intake. the hose then just tucks down by the shroud. You can use the stock air bridge, i opted to upgrade along with the smooth coupler. Be careful when connecting the air bridge to the MAF, take your time. This might sound sorta doomsday, but its not too bad, 2nd and third time was about 30-40 min total time. Let me know if you have anymore questions and Iwill let you know what my experience is.
