i have a 2000 c5 and was wondering what product would give me the most bang for my buck; chip or handheld? the mods i plan to have are vararam, B&B bullet exhaust and throttle body.
No such thing as a chip. That was years and years ago... Pre 1996 I believe.. Nowdays the cars have a PCM or a Brain that controls everything. At this point I would look for a used Handheld for your year model. I bought one on the parts forum here, for $100. I have seen them on ebay too. A dyno tune is around $400 and is much better than a handheld. When you get to the Headers and cam stage you want to go with a good tuner for sure. I was please with the results of my Hypertech handheld (10-12 hp at the wheels). I do have to run 94-95 octane or the engine will ping because of the advanced timing. The first dyno test I did with 93 Octane and the motor was pinging. Actually made less horsepower than when it was bone stock. Just be aware of this. Any how, 10-12 rwhp and 12-15 torque for $100 is a good deal

Just to let you guys know, Ecklers carrys a power module made by JET. It's for 97's thru 04's. Price is $269 for all applications. Plugs in, to the PCM I am assuming. So there IS a chip, so to speak
There is a great place in Oxnard, California. Take 101 to Vineyard, head north on vineyard about 2-3 miles. It's on the left side not sure of street name. AA corvettes
