electrical problem all black Please Help
I drove as usual. Back from shopping, my car was open so directly I put the key in the contact and nothing happend. Every thing stayed black as if the battery was disconnected.
I checked the battery connections every thing is correct.
I checked the all fuses in the inside boxe and in the engine compartiment boxe. Every thing is correct.
Nothing is working:
no light, no lighter, no radio, no door lock, no trunk opening.
I had to let my car parked.
Please have you any idea.
Thanks a lot
Eric

You have a battery or a battery cable problem! The very first thing that I would do is disconnect the battery. Examine both battery terminals. Gey a volt meter and measure the battery output. It should be 12 VDC! Not 11.5 or 11 VDC. It is best to take it to an Auto Parts store and have it tested If the battery is in fact good. Clean the battery cables with a wire brush and some spray electrical cleaner. I dont know what products you have available in France so, I cant recommend any. I use something called WD-40. It works well to displace the dirt/corrosion and will allow the terminals to make a good connection.
Next,, The terminals must be torqued on to the battery post with a torque wrench to 11 ft/lbs or 15 Nm.
If your still having problems, remove the engine compartment fuse box cover and find the B+ terminal. There will be TWO wires attached to that terminal Read that terminal to ground. It must read 12 VDC. The positive battery cable goes directly from the battery to that B+ terminal. The other wire goes to the other fuse box in the passengers foot well.

Please let me know what you find.

Thank you very very much Bill and Servohead for your help.
First of all when I checked my car the negativ was hot.
I disconnected the negativ and check connections positiv and the B+ near the fuse box. No corrosion at all.
After a while my car started with out any problem with cables connected to an other car.
The alternator is charging correctly 13.5v.
I drove more than 1 hour and this morning the battery was low (typical symptoms).
To me it seems the battery is in short circuit or I have an electrical comsumption some where. I hope it is not an electronical problem. (US parts in France are very expensive)
Any way, I will try to drive thursday to Chevrolet to fix it.
I will tell you what they found.
Thank you again for your precious help.
Eric
Despite this problem it is a daily pleasure to drive a vett.
