Just got off the phone w/ shaun who had a halfshaft for me. He told me those groves are completely normal, halfshafts with 5,000 miles have groves in them already, happens real quick,, said nothing to worry about. I am going to have to trust this since he was going to sell me one and advised me of that.. so.. I'm goign to check the vent.. I taped all the vents up ebfoer I painted the transaxle, maybe I left tape on one. If so that will **** me off for all this trouble.
anyone else seen a little groove in there halfshafts? I checked the old diff and I didnt see any wear marks from the shaft hitting the seal or case.. so it dosent back up the fact that it might be a normal occurance.
Well the new ring I had is wrong, the old ring looks like the correct one. I didnt see any leaking that was obvious once I had the cover off, the ring was seated correctly and I saw no burrs or any damage to it. I'm going to replace both o-rings now, and the seal from the diff to transmission and rtv all of them, torque to spec, and then let them dry for 6-10 hours and then torque down the DTE brace.
